Owning The Void emphasizes the importance of women claiming their own physical and visible space. The book focuses on monumental (post-)minimalist and non-figurative sculptures that show the legacy of a feminine voice in a male dominated tradition. The book can be considered to be an archive of (post-)minimalist and non-figurative sculptural works that have been created by women. The majority of these selected sculptures have been created during the late sixties and seventies coinciding with the rise of the women’s rights movement and the second wave of Feminism.
